A ferry operates across the river Teign, although the bridge is not much of a detour. The route from there follows the railway line, and the best course depends on the tide. Then a cut inland to find the ferry across the River Exe from Starcross. After Exmouth, low cliff walking, with another detour to avoid a firing range, leads to Budleigh Salterton.
