A fantastic Art Deco hotel on an island. Agatha Christie wrote several novels while staying here. Snooker, tennis, croquet and swimming kept Noel Coward busy on his visits. Residents dress up for dinner, which may not suit the average muddy walker. You can walk across at low tide, or at high tide take the sea tractor - so just a small but fascinating detour from the south west coastal path. The rooms are pricey as you would expect - £320 per room half board.
